Ariana Grande has a new love: Starbucks’ Cloud Macchiato

Ariana Grande is crushing hard — and as the powerhouse pop star is wont to do, she’s hyping her latest hookup on Twitter. Relax, Arianators, it’s not a tall drink of water a la lanky Pete Davidson this time out. As of Tuesday morning, the 25-year-old chart-topper is professing her affection for a cool cup a java: Starbucks’ new iced Cloud Macchiato, to be exact. The “Thank U, Next” singer is touting her new “#starbucksambassador” status nonstop to the Twitterverse, sharing images of herself slurping with some baristas, and posing, plastic cup in hand, with a variety of cute pooches. That signature green apron is a vivid viral marketing touch, Ms. Grande. (Oh, and she endorses trying the “soy version.”) The suddenly polarizing Cloud is officially available in caramel and cinnamon flavors. It also comes, unofficially, in the flavor of “disgusting,” according to intrepid taste testers at Time Out New York. The new drink was inspired by a Spanish drink called leche merengada, or “merengue milk,” CNN business reports. Starbucks’ in-house team developed a “cloud powder” that uses dehydrated egg whites and milk to achieve the drink’s meringue-like foam texture. It’s all part of the corporate coffee giant’s hottest product: chilled and caffeinated sugar bombs that have teens lining up, for better or worse, around the country. Brand honchos first teased the Cloud in December: Cold drinks “have contributed to more than 80 percent of our beverage growth over the last two years,” Starbucks Chief Operating Officer Rosalind Brewer announced at the annual investors event. Oh, and when it comes to Grande, Starbucks says the attraction is mutual — via a tweet, of course. “You want it, we got it / You want it, we got it / You like our cloud?
