Justin Timberlake is out of the woods. After his February album, “Man of the Woods,” dropped and flopped — at the very least with many critics and followers — JT is hitting the reset button with a brand new shock monitor, “SoulMate.” The one shouldn’t be from “Man of the Woods,” which acquired combined reactions for its Americana leanings. As an alternative, Tuesday’s launch “SoulMate” finds the singer returning to his “dance, dance, dance” candy spot — extra like “Can’t Cease the Feeling!,” “Swimsuit & Tie” and “Rock Your Physique.” It’s an apparent bid for music of the summer season, as Timberlake makes clear firstly of the music: “Summer season begins now,” he declares over the percolating beats of the immediately catchy groove. In a shrewd transfer, Timberlake collaborated with Nineteen85, who produced a few of Drake’s largest hits. You may even hear echoes of Drake-and-Nineteen85 bangers together with “Hotline Bling,” “One Dance” and “Maintain On, We’re Going Dwelling” on the breezily soulful “SoulMate.” Hey, if you happen to can’t beat ’em, be part of ’em.
