‘Unicorn Store’ review: Brie Larson’s latest is rainbow slight
In an try to counterbalance, maybe, the countless stream of films celebrating schlubby man-children, director/star Brie Larson (“Captain Marvel”) places ahead this irritatingly twee story a few rainbow-loving artist named Equipment (Larson) whose childlike surprise will get her flunked out of a grim-face artwork faculty.
She then makes the acquaintance of a questionably actual salesman (Samuel L. Jackson) providing Equipment her very personal unicorn — a prospect at odds along with her half-hearted try to cease hanging out primarily along with her Care Bears and embrace maturity.
Joan Cusack and Bradley Whitford co-star as Equipment’s understandably involved mother and father, whereas Mamoudou Athie (“The Circle”) is an appealingly deadpan romantic prospect.
However finally “Unicorn Retailer” exhibits little enchantment past, maybe, a young-adult viewers with a really excessive tolerance for glitter.
